Install BabyShow
Install on iPhone or iPad
Install BabyShow before you plan your first party. On iPhone and iPad the Home Screen app keeps its own storage, separate from Safari, and Safari can clear data for websites you haven't used for 7 days, and clearing browser data can remove your parties.
- In Safari (not a private tab), unlock BabyShow with your Etsy order number.
- Tap Share. If it isn't in the toolbar, tap ⋯ first.
- Choose Add to Home Screen (under View More if you don't see it), then Add.
- Open BabyShow from your Home Screen and plan your first party there.
Chrome on iPhone works the same way: tap Share in the address bar, then Add to Home Screen.
If the Home Screen app shows the BabyShow product page, tap Already bought it?, type your order number again and tap Unlock. The Home Screen app can count as one more browser.
Install on Android
- In Chrome, unlock BabyShow with your Etsy order number.
- Tap Chrome's menu ⋮, then Install (it may say Add to Home screen or Install app), then Install again.
- Open BabyShow from its icon on your Home screen.
Install on a Windows, Mac or ChromeOS computer
- Chrome or Edge: unlock BabyShow, then choose Install in the address bar. BabyShow opens in its own window and can be pinned to the taskbar or Dock.
- Safari on a Mac: unlock BabyShow, then choose File › Add to Dock.
- Firefox: can't install apps. BabyShow works fully in a normal tab; bookmark it.
Get ready
Unlock BabyShow with your Etsy order number
- Open START HERE.pdf from your Etsy download and tap Unlock BabyShow, or go to babyshow.jykdigital.com/unlock.
- Type your Etsy order number and tap Unlock. It is on the first line of the receipt Etsy emailed you, and on Etsy under You › Purchases.
- Use your normal browser, not a private or incognito window: BabyShow keeps your parties in ordinary browser storage.
- Afterwards BabyShow opens at babyshow.jykdigital.com in that browser, without asking again.
One copy bought unlocks up to 5 browsers or installed copies. On a phone, the browser and the installed app can count as two. A copy you haven't opened for 120 days gives its place to a new one. Your order number is just for you: please don't share it or post it online.
Plan a party
- Choose Plan your first party (later: New party on Your parties) and answer four short questions: who the shower is for, when it is, boy, girl or surprise (with the party's look), and how much game time you want.
- The game time picks a recommended lineup for 15, 30 or 45 minutes; Build my own lets you choose the games.
- The party's home shows your lineup and Getting ready: what is ready, and what each game that isn't still needs. Nothing on that list stops you opening the party.
Let the parents personalize the games
- On the party's home, choose Invite the parents to personalize, then copy or share the link with the parents.
- They answer up to 18 light questions on their own phone, with nothing to install. Three games use their answers.
- Their answers appear in Parents' answers as they come in. You can also answer for them yourself there.
BabyShow shows the exact date the link stops working before you share it.
Share the guest link before the shower
- On the party's home, choose Create the guest link, then copy or share it, for example in the shower invitation.
- Before the shower, guests can add their own baby photo for Who's That Baby?, their predictions and their wishes. They appear in Guests and contributions.
- On the day, the same link lets a guest join the party, from the room or from far away beside your video call.
A party's online room normally ends seven days after the party, thirty days after it was made if the party has no date, and never more than sixty days after. The exact date shows before you share the link; after it, the link says the party has ended.
Rehearse, and try it on your TV
- Rehearse plays your lineup on this device with pretend guests: the Party Screen, your remote and a guest phone side by side. Nothing counts.
- Test with real devices opens a practice room for an hour: put its Party Screen on your TV and join from a phone or two, as on the day.
Print a game
On a game's page, open its menu and choose Print, or choose Print the whole lineup from the party's menu. Pick what to print, then Make the PDF. It is made on your device and works without internet. Guests who'd rather not use a phone can play on paper.
Explore the demo
Choose Explore the demo party to try BabyShow with a sample shower, already prepared. Play the demo party plays its lineup with pretend guests, Join from your phone lets your own phone play beside them, and See all 12 activities tries every game. Nothing you do there reaches your own parties; when you're ready, choose Plan my own party.
On the day
The six-step picture guide
Six steps from the sofa to the first question: connect the laptop to the TV, open the Party Screen, guests scan the code, press Start, press Next, and what to do if the connection is lost. It is in BabyShow (Picture guide in the menu) and here as a PDF to print or keep on your phone.
Put the party on your TV
- Connect a laptop to the TV or projector with an HDMI cable, or cast the browser tab to it. A TV is optional: without one, guests play on their phones and you read aloud.
- On the laptop, open babyshow.jykdigital.com/tv. It shows a code.
- On your phone, open your party, choose Add a Party Screen and scan the code. Before the party it is on the party's home under Getting ready, once you have created the guest link; once the party is open, it is in the remote's menu. A laptop linked to your parties can instead open the party and choose Party Screen itself.
- Press Start the Party Screen: it fills the TV.
Every device that plays live needs internet; they don't need to share one network.
How guests join
- Press Open the party: your phone becomes the remote, and the TV shows a QR code and a six-character code.
- Guests scan the QR code with their phone's camera (or open babyshow.jykdigital.com/join and type the code), type their name and tap Join to play (or Just watch). No app and no account.
- Guests who already used the guest link go straight back to their own entry. Guests far away open the same guest link.
- On the remote, press Start, then Next question, and Show results after the last one.
A guest in a private window may lose her place if she closes it; Already playing? on her phone gets her back in.
If the internet drops
- After ten seconds, the device that holds the party asks: Connection lost. Continue in TV-only mode?
- Choose Continue in TV-only mode, read each question aloud, then press Reveal and Next. Guests answer aloud, in teams or on paper.
- When the connection returns, the party picks up where it was.
The day before, check that the party's home says Ready without internet on this device. With no internet at all, Play without phones in the party's menu runs the party from one device.
After the party
Results, winners and the keepsake book
- End the party shows the champion (when it's on) and the results on every phone. The guest link then opens the results until the room ends.
- Winners lists who gets each prize. Results lets you correct a question afterwards.
- Keepsake book makes a PDF for the parents of the room's predictions, wishes, advice and baby photos, with the sections and contributions you choose.
- After the birth, After the baby arrives takes the real date, time, weight and length, and the keepsake book gains who guessed closest.
Keep your parties safe
Back up your party library
- On Your parties, open the ⋯ menu and choose Backup, then Save a backup. The file holds every party, photos included.
- Keep the .babyshow file somewhere private, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. It holds your guests' names, photos and messages.
- Save one again after the party: BabyShow offers it when you end a party.
Clearing your browser's data can remove your parties from it; the backup brings them back.
Move to a new device or to the installed app
- On the old device (or in Safari), save a backup.
- On the new device (or in the installed app), unlock BabyShow with your order number.
- Choose Restore from a backup file and pick the file. BabyShow checks it and shows what's inside before anything changes. On a device that already has parties, Import adds the file's parties as copies and Replace library replaces what is there.
Want to keep using both devices? Link them instead, and they stay up to date.
Use BabyShow on more than one device
- On the device that has your parties, open Devices from the ⋯ menu on Your parties and choose Link another device. The first time, name this device and choose Show a code. A QR code and a code appear.
- On the other device, unlock BabyShow with your order number and choose I already use BabyShow on another device (on a device that already has parties: Devices, then Enter a code). Scan the QR code, or type the code.
- Check that both devices show the same words, and confirm.
- From then on, your parties, photos included, reach every linked device when they are online. Any of them can be the remote or the Party Screen of a party.
Your parties are encrypted on your devices before they leave them, and only your linked devices can read them. Linking isn't a backup: keep saving a backup file now and then. To stop, open Devices and choose Stop syncing on this device.
If something isn't right
I see the BabyShow product page instead of my parties
This browser hasn't been unlocked yet, or its cookies were cleared. Tap Already bought it? on that page and unlock BabyShow again with your Etsy order number. Your parties are still in this browser's storage unless its site data was cleared too; then restore your backup file.
If the unlock page says your order is already unlocked in all its places, message us with your order number and we'll free one.
Contact us
Message us on Etsy at JYKDigital. Tell us which device and browser you use, and your order number if it's about unlocking. Please never send your backup file.
